About Us

Who we are

Caafi Health is a grassroots organisation that works to improve the health and wellbeing of the diverse populations in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. We build community capacity and address health inequality by providing relevant and relatable health information, advice, support and education.

We work with healthcare providers and local communities, improving the trust and respect that communities feel from service providers. Our aim is to improve their access to optimal levels of healthcare and reduce the current health inequalities gap.

Caafi Health’s vital services became more visible during the Covid-19 pandemic. Many communities were disproportionately affected by the virus, both in mortality and infection rate. With the roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccines, there was an abundance of misinformation contributing to fear and mistrust, which initially resulted in fewer people from under-served communities accepting the vaccine.

We supported people by making scientific, evidence-based information and knowledge much more accessible and understandable. Through individual and community empowerment comes true and active choice.

Following on from these initial sessions we are deeply committed to partnership and collaboration with service providers and local communities in our efforts to actualise health equity.

What we do

Caafi Health works with you to improve and maximise your health. We will empower you with the knowledge and confidence to make the right health choices for you, no matter what your situation is.

We advocate for everyone to take control of their health and wellbeing – so take the first steps towards better physical, mental and emotional health by contacting us to discuss your unique situation and let’s see how much we can achieve together.

What's next?

Our mission of empowering communities to improve their overall health outcomes will continue to shape the way we work with people. We believe our approach is unique and we are keen to share our knowledge and drive change in the way we can address health inequality and improve everyone’s access to health care services locally, regionally, and nationally. To do this we will:

  • Stay at the forefront of new ideas to improve health outcome and tackle health inequality.
  • Provide more health and wellness coaching support, employing people from diverse backgrounds with expertise of community languages.
  • Deliver health and wellness coaching to support employees of organisations.
  • Develop more professional partnerships so we can continue to offer successful support to even more communities.
  • Establish grassroots cancer support program for all people affected by cancer led by people with their own experiences of cancer.

Huda has been running community language vaccine workshops for our members and has been encouraging them to access local clinics. Over 250 members and their families accessed COVID-19 vaccinations thanks to Huda who continuously answers their questions and supports our staff and volunteers.
